only two more sleeps before we start driving to halifax. i’m very anxious, excited, scared, sick over it. i know it will be good though! it’s hard to believe i’ve been in hamilton for 3 months already. i didn’t think i would want to leave by the end of it’s but i’m ready to go again. i’ll miss all my family & friends but i’m excited to move to another new city!

the other night we played in the yard with edith (bead). she is normally scared to go out but she was running all over the grass! it was the cutest thing. when she gets excited her tail gets even poofier. bad photo here. it’s as if she gets goosebumps & all her hair stands tall. also, you’ll see my new moose hide moccasins. mum got me them as a back to school gift! walking in them is like having slippers on all the time. best.

maybe i’m a bit biased but i think it’s the best fog i’ve ever seen.

here are some of the photos i took in halifax/dartmouth. i used the new olympus xa2 nick gave me for my birthday. it’s the nicest point & shoot i’ve ever had! it’s also a relief to carry something a little lighter weight than my ae-1. i haven’t retired it though! i still love it.

we’ll be moving out there on september first. i can’t wait! i’m sad to be leaving all my friends again but i’m very excited for when they visit us there. i can’t wait to smell the salty air again. more nova scotia photos are coming!

we drove from hamilton, on to québec city, qc to halifax, ns. it was the longest trip i’ve been on. we stopped for sleep in québec city but toured around a bit before bed (8pm). it was so beautiful! i always feel an awkwardness because of the language barrier but everyone was very friendly & spoke english for us. i just feel like a jerk making them speak english when all i know is names of animals & numbers in french. the drive had such beautiful scenery. new brunswick was amazing. so many trees & hills, all green everywhere.

halifax was amazing, as usual. i didn’t really take any digital photos but i have a roll being processed right now. we spent most of the time hunting for an apartment. so many we’re beautiful on the outside & just horrible on the inside. i would prefer to rent a place in an old victorian house but once you get inside they are all horrible! such makeshift layouts & usually filthy. one even had a rat trap in plain view! we ended up taking a place in a small mid century apartment building. it’s really a nice apartment inside. nice light hardwood floors, bright white walls & arched doorways. it’s perfect! i can’t wait to get in there.

we’re heading out to halifax bright & early tomorrow morning. that’s some gas money you see above. we’re driving from hamilton to québec city. we’ll go explore petit champlain tomorrow afternoon & then get to bed real early so we can drive the rest of the way to halifax. once we get there it will mostly be apartment hunting but we’ll find some time for fun. i can’t wait to be back & in july! i’m so excited to see the ocean again & smell the air. i’ll be back at the end of the week. bye!

this photo was taken a few days after i got my baby edith. elizabeth & i went down to barton & birch to pick out a couple kittehs. i’ve had two cats in my life but this is the first one i picked out on my own as an adult. we took the bus down on a whim, walked into this crappy house full of knick knacks & kittens running all over the couch. i looked around & picked edith. i don’t remember what made me choose her but i’m really glad i did. she’s the best kitty i’ve ever had. i put her in my bag & elizabeth put her kitty in her bag & we got on the bus to go home. best day.

i’ve been missing my etsy shop quite a bit since i closed. i’ve been thinking about reopening it but i know i don’t have any interest in stitching anymore. i don’t know why! it’s just completely left me! i wanted to try something new but keep it pretty low key. hopefully you all like what is to come at atlantic treefox!
