i’ve been missing my etsy shop quite a bit since i closed. i’ve been thinking about reopening it but i know i don’t have any interest in stitching anymore. i don’t know why! it’s just completely left me! i wanted to try something new but keep it pretty low key. hopefully you all like what is to come at atlantic treefox!

my birthday is coming up on friday & i haven’t thought about it at all. i have no idea if anything is going to happen or not. at first i didn’t really care but now i’m kind of sad i felt that way at all. mackenzie’s post really made me want something nice to happen, even if it’s only little. woe is me!

my new favourite treat! i was hesitant to try one at first because i’m not really into pastries but then anabela bought me one & i was hooked. my new ritual is to get a falafel & then walk down the street to ola bakery on james st n to get a custard tart. nom.

as you may have noticed on my twitter, rollo was missing for some time. we were up north when he decided to take off so when we got back we thought he was just hiding. the next day we started to freak out. he’s not an outdoor cat & really has no interest in going outside. he won’t eat anything but kibble & loves laying on beds. i’ve never seen such a true to indoors cat. the idea of him being outside & even stepping off the deck was unimaginable.

we put posters up, ads in papers, checked the spca & even put mini flyers in everyone’s mailbox. no one phoned & we were getting pretty sad. we even started to plan what we would do if he never showed up again. as we were doing that, he started meowing on the front porch! i’ve never been so happy to see a big ol’ bole!

naturally, we were very curious about what he had been up to. like i said, i can’t imagine stepping off the deck, never mind crossing streets. i didn’t think i’d have any idea what he’d been up to until a lady phoned me & told me she saw him down by the school playground! her & her son were chasing him because they could tell by how scared he was that he was an indoor cat. then she saw my poster & phoned to make sure he’s home. so nice!

out of all that, he came home with a little cut on his head & really soft fur from being out in a storm. welcome back home, rollo!

i know it’s old news but i had to finish the roll! a couple weeks ago i went down to white elephant to watch my mom bust out her skills to paint the white elephant sign on the window. it was so good to see her painting again. she worked at hamilton signs when i was little but it’s tough finding that kind of work these days. it’s nice to see people want it done the old way again.
